AMALGAMATED INSTRUMENT CO PTY LTD - NEWSLETTER
June 8th 2005 - Issue Number 13

Welcome to AIC's newsletter number 13.

Amalgamated Instrument Co Pty Ltd has some new developments "in the pipeline". We hope to feature some of the applications where our products are used (as we have done in the past). If you have an application and you think others would like to know about it, we would like to feature it - especially if you can send some photographs.

Please do our survey

As we move into the year we would also like to, again, encourage you to please take the time to complete our very short quality survey. The survey is designed to gather feedback about various aspects of AIC products and services. From the feedback we will seek to improve areas of our operations that you, our customers, feel could be improved.
We will respond to comments and may ask you to elaborate on areas where you feel we have room for improvement.

New field mount loop powered indicators

Amalgamated Instrument Co Pty Ltd (AIC) has just released two new IP65 Field Mount 2-wire loop powered indicators.

The two models are the RM6-LP-4C with a four digit display and the RM6-LP-6C with a 6 digit display

The indicators have been designed for wall mount or field mount installation where environmental protection to IP65 is required.
Both models take their power and signal from a 4-20mA or a 10-50mA 2-wire loop (The choice is configured by the user).

The RM6-LP-6C, 6 digit model has ratemeter/totaliser functions included with battery backup. The indicators are easily scaled to represent chosen engineering units. The 6 digit model can be configured for different scaling for rate and total.

Both the RM6-LP-4C and the RM6-LP-6C are equipped with 2 remote inputs that can each be programmed to one of a range of functions. These functions include: zero, tare, display hold or peak hold amongst others.

Second generation loop-powered indicators

Amalgamated Instrument Co Pty Ltd (AIC) has just released two new 2-wire loop powered indicators.

The two models are the PM6-LP-4C with a four digit display and the PM6-LP-6C with a 6 digit display

The indicators have been designed for installation into panels where space is at a premium. The units only require a depth of 66mm from the front of the panel to the back of the supplied connectors. A little more space would be required for cabling.
Both models take their power and signal from a 4-20mA or a 10-50mA 2-wire loop (The choice is configured by the user).
The PM6-LP-6C, 6 digit model has ratemeter/totaliser functions included with battery backup. The indicators are easily scaled to represent chosen engineering units. The 6 digit model can be configured for different scaling for rate and total. For example, the rate scaling can be in litres/minute and the total can be scaled in kilolitres.

Both models are equipped with 2 remote inputs that can each be programmed to one of a range of functions. These functions include: zero, tare, display hold or peak hold amongst others.

WS-85000 2D wind sensor

2D ultrasonic wind sensor

The WS-85000 2D wind sensor uses ultrasonic technology to measure wind speed and wind direction. With no moving parts, the sensor is very reliable. Outputs are 0-5VDC analog signals for speed and direction or a NMEA data "sentence". The WS-85000 can measure wind speeds to 70m/sec (250kph) with an accuracy of ±2% 0 to 30m/sec then ±3% 30 to 70m/sec.
Wind direction can be measured ±2º.

The WS-85000 wind sensor complements the circular wind display

18VDC regulated transmitter supply

AIC's PM4 instruments with analog input and powered by AC supplies have had an 18VDC unregulated transmitter power supply available as standard.
The transmitter supply is now available as standard on AIC's PM4 analog instruments with both AC and DC supplies. The supply is now 18VDC regulated and has a maximum output of 25mA.

The new supply is standard on the following instruments:

An isolated, regulated 24VDC (±12VDC) power supply is available as an option as well. This option has a maximum output of 20mA
The optional power supply and the standard power supply cannot be used at the same time.
